THOMAS A. KORNEGAY

TROY -- Dr. Thomas A. Kornegay, 83, 504 N. Main St., died Sunday at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell St. in Troy, with the Rev. Bobby Tyson Jr. officiating.
Dr. Kornegay was born July 20, 1926, in Raleigh, the son of Joseph Millard and Mae Louise (Cooper) Kornegay.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he had served in various capacities since 1954.
He was a 1948 pre-med graduate of Wake Forest College. He graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and was licensed to practice dentistry in 1952.
He was a member of Troy Rotary Club, a licensed pilot and enjoyed woodworking.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances Nancy Kornegay of the home; a son, Thomas A. Kornegay Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Troy, a granddaughter, Susanna Kornegay of Troy; and a grandson, Andy Darrohn of Troy.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
