JESSIE B. KORNEGAY

Jessie Bowden Kornegay, 83, daughter of the late Roscoe and Essie Stokes Bowden, was born in Wayne County Dec. 30, 1925. She departed this life Sunday at Kinston Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Her life will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Tate officiating. Her mortal temple will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children, George W. Kornegay Jr. of the home, Shirley K. Kee of Goldsboro, Agnes L. Kornegay of Mount Olive, Eddie Kornegay (adopted son) of Jacksonville and Timothy Kornegay of Willingborough, N.J.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Lillie King; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Kornegay was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Kornegay Sr.; son, James C. Kornegay; son, George "Peany" Kornegay; and daughter, Patricia Kornegay.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
