Cooper Standard, at 308 Fedelon Trail, will cut its workforce starting July 16.

Cooper Standard will lay off 125 employees following a decline in business for the Goldsboro auto parts supplier.

The layoffs will take place at two locations, starting July 16, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the N.C. Department of Commerce.

Cooper Standard operates two facilities in Goldsboro, one at 308 Fedelon Trail and another at 280 Woodland Church Road. All but three of the layoffs -- 122 in total -- will come from the Fedelon Trail location, marking the first mass layoff in Goldsboro of 2018.

The layoffs are categorized as permanent, as opposed to being temporary or due to a company closure. In a statement, Cooper Standard cited the reason for the layoffs as being due to a decline in business.

"Cooper Standard continually analyzes plant utilization across its manufacturing footprint," the company said in a prepared statement.

"Regional vehicle production and customer orders are some of the key considerations in determining plant utilization. Runout of existing business has impacted the needed employment levels at the Goldsboro facility."

Cooper Standard's products include sealing systems, fuel and brake delivery systems.
