Commencement ceremonies kick off this week

High school graduation season kicks off this week, with three private schools and three public schools represented in the first round of commencement exercises.
Wayne Early/Middle College High School will have its ceremony on Tuesday, at 6 p.m. at The Bridge Church in Princeton.
Fifty-five graduates will receive diplomas.
The school does not select a valedictorian or salutatorian but traditionally features student speakers on the program. Those this year will include Carson Bennett Hair, Alexis Ferro, Taylor Heeden and Adriana McFadden.
Wayne School of Engineering will graduate 64 students at its ceremony on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Goldsboro High School.
Student speakers announced will be Megan Huston, Fraser Kaye and Rayce Gibson.
Wayne Country Day School will graduate 31 students at its commencement on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
The Class of 2018 has co-valedictorians this year, Jennifer Potts and Zander Pittman.
Potts will be majoring in biomedical engineering at N.C. State University.
Pittman said he will be studying biology at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Three ceremonies will take place on Friday evening, May 25.
The Goldsboro High School event will start at 6 p.m. on the school football field, with 128 candidates for diplomas.
Valedictorian DorMiya Vance intends to go into the Air Force reserves.
Kadijah Pearsall, salutatorian, will be attending Johnson and Wales University to study culinary arts and business entrepreneurship.
Wayne Christian School will also start at 6 p.m., in the school gymnasium. Thirty-two seniors will receive diplomas.
Valedictorian Stephanie Drotts plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill but has not declared a major.
Salutatorian Zeryn Macklin said he will be attending N.C. State University.
Faith Christian Academy will graduate 10 students at Faith Free will Baptist Church, starting at 7 p.m. Pastor Christian Powell will address the graduating class.
Valedictorian Alyssa Davis plans to study pre-law with an emphasis in English.
Salutatorian Ethan Phillips is undecided on his future plans.
