Local student selected for Governor's School

Full SizeSam Okonkwo, of Goldsboro and a junior at Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, has been chosen to attend Governor's School this summer. The son of Ambrose and Uzo Okonkwo, Sam will attend Governor's School West at Salem College in Winston-Salem where he will participate in the science program. Governor's School, a six-week summer residential program for intellectually-gifted high school students, is the oldest program of its kind in the nation.
