Victoria Atkins leads everyone in singing the black national anthem as Wednesday night's dinner theater begins. Atkins wrote the play being performed by students from Dillard Middle School with one of her former students, Rebecca Elliassiant.

Dillard Middle School students perform a portion of "Embracing Our Past, Taking Charge of Our Future" where slaves pick cotton during the black history dinner theater.
"Embracing Our Past, Taking Charge of Our Future," a black history dinner theater, was held last Wednesday night at Goldsboro Event Center. The event, organized by Lisa Taylor, was held with the hopes of bringing parents and teachers together while educating students about history. The art department had drawings on display, and the consumer science department made decorations.
