Man stumbles upon human remains

Goldsboro police are investigating what appears to be human remains found in a wooded area near Royall Avenue Monday afternoon.
A man walking his dog through the woods came across what appeared to be skeletal remains at about 4 p.m., in an area near 401 Royall Ave., according to Goldsboro police.
Maj. Anthony Carmon, head of the Goldsboro Police Department Investigative Services Bureau, confirmed that the remains have been sent to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where tests will be performed to determine the cause of death and the identity of the person.
No other details, including whether foul play is suspected, were released by police.
