Wind advisory in effect until 10 p.m.

A wind advisory is in effect today from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. as a strong noreaster off the Atlantic coast will generate the strong winds across central North Carolina.
The northwest winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph.
A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph or wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph are expected.
Winds of this magnitude are capable of knocking down old or weakened trees and can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Some trees may become uprooted due to saturated soils, according to the National Weather Service
Scattered power outages are expected.
