Students chosen for honors chorus

Two fifth-grade students from Wayne County Public Schools were chosen to participate in the 2017 North Carolina Elementary School Honors Chorus. Anna Parker Heath of Rosewood Elementary School, left, and Gavin Tucker of Northwest Elementary were recognized by the Wayne County Board of Education recently for earning the distinction. The state chorus is sponsored by the N.C. Music Educators Association. The students competed against hundreds of students across the state to participate in the 195-member chorus. The students spent several weeks leading up to the performance learning their respective parts, both on their own and with their music teachers, Sharon Caughron of NWE and Denise Tilden of RES.
