A man allegedly ran away from officers while they were searching his car on Christmas Eve, and then requested to be taken to the hospital once he was caught.

Christopher Torrai Wright, 30, of 213 Sydney Drive, Dudley, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and resisting, delaying and obstructing.

Wayne County sheriff's deputies stopped Wright in Dudley for a motor vehicle violation.

A press release said there was probable cause to search the car during the stop, so officers did.

They reportedly found narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

While they were searching Wright's car, he reportedly ran away, making it through four yards before officers caught up with him and took him into custody.

The release said Wright then asked to be taken to the hospital.

He was taken to the emergency room at Wayne UNC Health Care and treated.

When he was released, he was taken to the Magistrate's Office.

Wright was given a $22,000 secured bond on the charges.
