Thunderbirds scheduled to return to Wings Over Wayne in 2019

Different but familiar birds will be flying through the skies of Wayne County April 27 and 28, 2019, when the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headline the 2019 Wings Over Wayne Air Show.
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base announced the confirmation of the headlining act for the show on their Instagram page Monday.
A press release sent Tuesday said the Thunderbirds are the Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team.
For many, seeing the jets rip across the sky will be a familiar, but still enthralling experience.
They headlined the 2015 Wings Over Wayne Air Show, and will follow the Navy's Blue Angels, who performed for thousands during this year's expo in May.
"We are excited to see the U.S. Air Force's Thunderbirds return to Seymour Johnson," said Col. Christopher Sage, 4th Fighter Wing commander. "The Thunderbirds represent some of the finest pilots and maintainers in the U.S. military. Having them back for the 2019 Wings Over Wayne Air Show is exciting for the base and the local community."
The Thunderbirds were created in 1953 and are assigned to the 57th wing. The team's mission is to showcase precision maneuvers that demonstrate the capabilities of the Air Force's aircraft.
