Two Sunday night shootings, one of which injured a man, are being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The first shooting was reported shortly before 10 p.m. when officers responded to a call to the Tommy's Road Walmart.
A 25-year-old woman told officers that the car she and a passenger were in had been shot at as they were exiting I-795 North at the U.S. 70 Bypass exit.
No one was injured, but deputies said the gunfire had struck the right rear bumper and tag.
Deputies said that two firearms were found in the back seat of the car.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to Wayne UNC Health Care where a 44-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.
The victim refused to talk to officers other than to say that he had been shot on the highway.
