A Goldsboro man was arrested Wednesday morning for the Oct. 11 shooting of 60-year-old Robert Baymon at his home at 516 Eason St.

Baymon later died of his injuries at the hospital.

Kendall Shane Price, 23, of the 600 block of Sanderson Road, Seven Springs, is charged with murder.

Baymon reportedly let two people into his house at about 2:58 a.m., and they tried to rob him. Initial reports indicated Baymon did not know the men. When he defended himself against the robbery, he was shot.

Maj. Anthony Carmon, head of the Goldsboro Police Department's Investigative Services Bureau, said Baymon was shot twice in the abdomen.

Baymon did not immediately die from his wounds.

He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care, and the transferred hours later to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Baymon was listed in critical condition, and then died from his wounds on Oct. 18.

Carmon said the victim never told police why he let the men into his home the night he was shot.

Price was arrested Wednesday at about 9:35 a.m. at 109 S. Ormond Ave. -- the Wayne County Probation and Parole Office -- without incident.

Police say that while Price is facing charges for the murder of Baymon, the case remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.

Carmon said warrants for the arrest of one more person are expected to be issued by the end of the day. He added that there is the possibility more warrants will be issued.

Price is being held without bond in the Wayne County Detention Center.
