The investigation into a recent armed robbery and shooting has been elevated to a homicide case.
Robert Baymon, of 516 Eason St., died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville Wednesday. He had been listed in critical condition since the Oct. 11 incident inside his home that resulted in his suffering two gunshot wounds.
A police report detailing the incident said Baymon allowed two men into his home after 3 a.m. and a struggle ensued, during which he was shot twice.
Baymon was alert and speaking when EMS arrived and was later able to tell police what happened, but he did not identify the men who shot him except to say that one of them wore a red shirt and red hat.
Baymon was initially taken to UNC Health Care and then transferred to Vidant for further treatment. A Goldsboro Police Department press release did not reveal any additional information other than to say that he succumbed to his injuries.
