Police are investigating a possible shooting near Eastern Wayne High School.
A mandatory lockdown was implemented but has since been lifted. An electronic alert was also sent out to inform parents.
Ken Dersksen, Wayne County Public Schools spokesperson, said that shots were fired near Eastern Wayne but not on the campus. The school is now releasing students on a controlled basis as law enforcement is still on the scene.
Derksen said there were suspicious people who came on to the campus and who were detained by law enforcement. He also said that, due to the controlled release of students, buses might be delayed at Eastern Wayne Elementary, Eastern Wayne Middle, Greenwood Middle and Meadow Lane Elementary because the schools share buses and traffic might become an issue.
This story will be updated as more information is made available.
