The Goldsboro Police Department arrested a second person in connection with a mid-June shooting which sent a man to Vidant Medical Center, according to a press release.
Shantel Charese Atkinson, 26, of 601 Day Circle, was arrested for her alleged part in the shooting of Octavious Thompson, which took place around 3 p.m. on July 17 at the BeesTown convenience store on South Slocumb Street.
Maj. Anthony Carmon said that Atkinson drove Labar Lee Leslie ---- charged in July with committing the shooting ---- to the store. There, she allegedly joined Leslie in assaulting Thompson after he had been shot.
"She drove him there, the shooting occurred, and after that there was an altercation where she was attacking the victim," he said. "Then they both got back in the car and drove off."
Thompson survived the incident with non-life-threatening injuries.
Atkinson is charged with felony accessory after the fact, and was given a $50,000 secured bond.
