Eastern Wayne student charged with felonies

An Eastern Wayne High School student is facing multiple felony charges after trying to purchase food from Cookout early Sunday morning with a counterfeit $100 bill, according to a police report.
Andrew James Dawson, 17, of 215 Woodbine St., is charged with felony attempted obtaining property by false pretense, felony possession of a counterfeit instrument, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance.
The report said a Cookout employee called police at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday to report that Dawson was trying to buy food with a counterfeit $100 bill.
Police responded, found Dawson and discovered he had additional counterfeit bills in his possession, according to the report.
After being taken into custody, authorities found one gram of marijuana and one Xanax pill in his possession, according to the report.
Dawson was put in the Wayne County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
