Man faces firearms after deputies discover illegal weapon during drug search

A man faces firearms charges after the Wayne County Sheriff's Office discovered an illegal weapon during a drug search Wednesday, according to sheriff's office press release.

Kevin Dejuan Walters, 28, of 705 East Holly St. is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm following the search at 906 North Carolina St. Sheriff's office deputies searched the property after receiving information that people in the residence were selling illegal narcotics, leading to a warrant.

During the search, deputies located a stolen handgun, along with approximately 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine and paraphernalia, according to the report. Walters was arrested and placed in the Wayne County jail under a $20,000 secured bond. More charges in the case are pending upon further investigation, according to the report.
