Wayne County Public Schools recognize top student artists

Wayne County Public Schools recently recognized student artists during the 2016-17 Visual Arts Awards ceremony held at Goldsboro High School.
Categories and their respective recipients include the following:
Superintendent's Choice Art
* Grades K-2 Division: Omar Ortiz of Brogden Primary, first place; Kymia Edwards of North Drive Elementary, second place; and Steven Ramirez-Irias of Spring Creek Elementary, third place.
* Grades 3-5 Division: Lissette Morales of Carver Elementary, first place; Ziesha Lewis of Carver Heights Elementary and Brooklyn Pollock of Spring Creek Middle, both second place; and Kristen Whitley of Meadow Lane Elementary, third place.
* Grades 6-8 Division: Uen Tung Choi of Greenwood Middle, first place; Isabella Bush of Greenwood Middle, second place; and Diana Lopez of Rosewood Middle third place.
* Grades 9-12 Division: Lauren Kennedy of Southern Wayne High, first place; Christina Saldivar of Wayne Early/Middle College High, second place; and Yimy Diaz of Spring Creek High, third place.
* The Superintendent's Choice art selections are displayed for a year along the hallways of the district's administrative offices on Royall Avenue
* Other art awards included the Superintendent's Holiday Card award given to Ariadne Lugo-Cruz of Spring Creek Middle, first place/cover; Yimy Diaz of Spring Creek High, scholastic art gold key award; Addison Lane of Norwayne Middle, scholastic art silver key award; and Khaliah Creary of Meadow Lane Elementary, North Carolina Farm to School Calendar art contest finalist.
