Becky Hare

Becky Hare, math teacher at Charles B. Aycock High School, has been named Wayne County Public Schools' Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher of the Year.

She was recognized at the annual N.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference held in Greensboro.

As the district's representative, she also received a one-year membership in the NCCTM and a personalized award.

She has been in the profession for 26 years, 25 of those teaching at CBA.

In making the announcement, officials credited her with being a leader in mathematics.

As math department chair at CBA, she works with new educators who are teaching probability and statistics, leads meetings and developed an honors curriculum for a probability and statistics course.

She also assists teachers from other schools inside and outside of the district with teaching strategies and pacing for precalculus and statistics.
