Police seek information in attempted robbery

On Monday, March 27, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers of the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the Speedway Convenient Store, 1501 U.S. 70 West, in reference to a robbery and shots fired call.

Once officers arrived on-scene, they made contact with the victim, who stated he was meeting a person to possibly buy some shoes.

The victim reported the subject then displayed a firearm and attempted to rob him.  After a brief struggle between the victim and the subject, the firearm discharged.

The subject then fled the scene in a burgundy Ford Taurus.

The Goldsboro Police Department received video surveillance from the area and a suspect was identified.  The suspect was identified as Ricky Terrell Ward, 33, of Mount Olive,  and warrants have been secured for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, firing into occupied vehicle, possession of firearm by felon.
