MOUNT OLIVE -- The  N.C. Pickle Festival deadline has been extended to Monday, April 3, for applications for both vendors and chili competitors.

The original deadline was March 14.

The change means that a late application fee of $75 for vendors will apply only after April 3. The late fee applies to all vendors -- food, commercial, nonprofit, arts and crafts and information.

It also applies to Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce members.

Chamber members receive one free vendor space as part of their membership benefits, although other fees may apply, but their space still needs to be reserved in advance.

Vendors are encouraged to submit their applications early, as vendors will receive notice within a few weeks of submitting completed applications as to whether they will be accepted into the festival, festival organizers said.

Vendor forms can be downloaded online at www.ncpicklefest.org under Get Involved.

For questions on vendor applications, contact Faith Whitfield at 919-222-2148, or email picklefestvendors@gmail.com.

The N.C. Pickle Festival main day is set for Saturday, April 29, as is the festival's second annual Homestyle Chili Cookoff, presented by First South Bank and the Goldsboro News-Argus.

The cookoff is sanctioned by the International Chili Society, and the winner will be eligible to advance to the ICS World's Championship Homestyle Chili Cookoff as a North Carolina Homestyle regional champion.

The chili cookoff application can be found at www.ncpicklefest.org under Events.

The award-winning North Carolina Pickle Festival, presented by the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce, draws tens of thousands to downtown Mount Olive on the last full weekend in April each year.
