Residents who live in the area of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base can expect increased noise and activity Monday morning through late-Tuesday evening.
A press release issued Friday by the base's 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office said a two-day operational readiness exercise is planned for Jan. 30 an 31. The exercise will include increased aircraft activity over longer flying hours, emergency response vehicle presence and potential traffic congestion near the base.
Gate closures can also be expected, as the base will operate under increased forced protection conditions over the course of the exercise.
Exercises such as these are designed to test the 4th Fighter Wing's capabilities and are critical to maintaining overall readiness, to protect America's freedoms through dominant air power, the release said.
Approximately 1,000 airmen will be involved with the exercise.
