Lenwood Earl Sauls received the G. Edgar Summerlin award at the annual Wayne County Firefighters Association banquet. Sauls gave 52 years of service to firefighting, spending 43 years as chief of the Eastern Wayne Fire Department until the department merged with the New Hope Fire Department. Nearly 200 people attended the event.
The new officers for the Wayne County Firefighters Association were sworn in recently during a banquet at Lane Tree Golf Club. From left, the new officers are James Jones, vice president; Mike Aycock, chaplain; Steve Harrison, past president; Ken Jones, president; and Danny Tillman, secretary/treasurer.
