A Sunday afternoon fire destroyed an abandoned trailer at 3118 Central Heights Road Lot 4.
Assistant Goldsboro Fire Chief Eric Lancaster said on the scene the cause of the fire remains under investigation and is not currently ruled as being suspicious.
"Based on what we're seeing right now it will be hard to tell what the cause of the fire was," Lancaster said.
Firefighters responded to a call of a working structure fire at 1:38 p.m. Sunday, and Lancaster said the fire was fully involved when the fire department arrived on scene.
Lancaster confirmed that nobody was living in the trailer.
The fire did not spread into surrounding trailers, Lancaster said. The ground extending about 15 feet away from the trailer was scorched by the blaze.
Lancaster said there was no electricity running to the abandoned trailer, and that it had been vacant for a while.
Preliminary estimates point to the fire likely starting inside the trailer, around the middle of the building, Lancaster said.
The trailer was a total loss.
Lancaster added that the Goldsboro Police Department would be called to the scene to aid in the investigation into the fire.
