Goldsboro police have arrested the man they say robbed the Aggie's Grill Station on Cashwell Drive, Monday night.
According to a news release, the suspect walked into the restaurant at 2814 Cashwell Drive at 9:40 p.m., hinted that he was armed and took money from behind the counter.
Based on a description given by witnesses and the direction in which the suspect fled, police were able to catch up with and arrest Jerry Lee Williams, 52, of 3402 Central Heights Road.
Maj. Anthony Carmon said this morning he did not know whether Williams actually had a gun or not, but he did say that all of the money taken from the restaurant had been recovered.
Williams ---- first spotted by police near Dick's Sporting Goods then subdued behind French's Cleaners near Mall Road after a brief foot chase ---- is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and resisting and delaying or obstructing arrest.
He also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest on traffic-related offenses.
Williams remains in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $156,000 secured bond and is scheduled for a first appearance in district court later today.
