Officers responded to three reports of shots fired over the holiday weekend, one of which resulted in a car being struck by several bullets on Christmas day, according to police reports.
Shotspotter, the city's automatic gunshot detection system, alerted officers to three rounds fired in the 1100 block of Olivia Lane around 4:10 p.m. Christmas day.
Once on scene, officers discovered 42-year-old Markieshea Kamoh's 2003 Buick Lasabre had been struck by bullets in the front and rear windshield, the report said.
Witnesses on scene told police a black Ford truck or SUV stopped on Olivia Lane, a person pointed a handgun out of a window and began shooting west, according to the report.
No further description of the vehicle or person who fired the shots was given to police, the report said.
No shell casings or bullet fragments were recovered from the scene.
Early Friday morning police responded to a Shotspotter alert at 306 Creech St.
Officers found Mack George in his backyard around 5:40 a.m. Friday, who told police he fired one round into the air to scare off someone he believed was looking in his window, an incident report said.
Police advised George of the city ordinance barring firing a gun in the city limits and cleared the scene after not finding anyone in his backyard.
On Monday, police responded to a shots fired call in the 200 block of S. Kornegay St. around 8:15 p.m., but did not find any damage from gunshots in the area or any suspects.
