Firefighters at the scene are preparing to evacuate approximately 35 homes in the Wingspread subdivision along Wingspread Drive near U.S. 13 South.

Officials say the dynamite ---- the amount found has not yet been confirmed ---- was found in a storage building being cleaned out.

Initial report ----

Wayne County Sheriff's deputies and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base explosive ordnance disposal personnel have responded to secure dynamite found inside an old mill off of U.S. 13 South.

The Thoroughfare Volunteer Fire Department is diverting traffic at Herring Road and U.S. 13 South.
