University's fall graduation is Saturday

MOUNT OLIVE -- The University of Mount Olive will graduate approximately 325 students on Saturday during 2 p.m. commencement exercises in its George and Annie Dail Kornegay Arena.
Dr. Thomas A. Walker Jr. will be the guest speaker.
He began his tenure as president of Wayne Community College on Sept. 1.
Prior to that, Walker served as campus president of the Grand Island campus of Central Community College as well as vice president for student and enrollment services for all locations of Central Community College.
John Blackwell will be the guest speaker for the baccalaureate program at 11 a.m. at Southern Bank Auditorium. He is the barrow chair of Biblical studies at UMO.
He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in cultural anthropology and his D.Min. from Claremont School of Theology.
He is a Fellow of Gladstone's Library in Wales.
In his spare time, Blackwell enjoys spending time with Nancy, his wife of 43 years, playing the piano, knitting, and practicing Taekwondo.
The Blackwells have two grown children, Jaime and David.
The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values.
