A head-on collision between a white Ford Explorer and a red Volkswagen Jetta on Salem Church Road near Belfast Road early Tuesday morning sent two people to the hospital.
North Carolina Highway Patrolman J.T. Creech said the driver of the Jetta, Thomas Lane, turned in front of the Explorer, driven by James Blizzard, near 2706 Salem Church Road and collided with the Explorer.
Creech said Lane would be charged with unsafe movement for turning in front of the Explorer.
Both drivers involved in the wreck were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Creech said Blizzard was complaining of chest pains after the wreck.
There was a young child inside the Explorer when the wreck occurred, and the child was taken away from the scene by a family member, Creech said.
Traffic was slowed down in the area of Belfast Road and Salem Church Road for more than a half hour Tuesday morning because of the wreck.
