A wreck at the intersection of Wayne Memorial Drive and Country Day Road early Wednesday afternoon disrupted westbound and eastbound traffic for more than an hour.
Deanna Leigh Spence, of 109 Club Road, LaGrange, was driving west on Wayne Memorial Drive when she allegedly ran a red light and collided into John Robert Stutts, of 705 Guilford St., who was turning onto Wayne Memorial Drive off of Country Day Road.
Spence was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and charged with entering an intersection when the stoplight was a steady red light.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrolman Nolan Sanders, Stutts was not injured and there were no passengers in either car.
Traffic was backed up in the westbound lane of Wayne Memorial Drive beyond Wayne Memorial Hospital at various points while the scene was processed.
Both lanes of traffic on Wayne Memorial Drive were narrowed down to one lane, and traffic was directed by Belfast Fire Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The wreck happened around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, and the scene was cleared around 3 p.m.
