Three people were charged with methamphetamine offenses after Goldsboro police responded to a complaint at the Serena Inn on Corporate Drive on Wednesday night.
Officers investigated a report of a strong chemical odor coming from one of the rooms, which led them to Room 219, where three occupants were allegedly in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine.
The room was seized by police and portions of the motel were evacuated due to potential risks associated with the methamphetamine "cooking" process, officials said.
Law enforcement personnel from the Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad and the State Bureau of Investigation later responded to continue the investigation and dismantle components of the meth lab.
Goldsboro Fire Department also responded to assist in the event services were required.
Those arrested were Melissa Bell, 30, charged with methamphetamine offenses and probation violations, bond undetermined; Joseph Russell Carter Jr., 40, charged with methamphetamine offenses, $600,000 bond; and Daniel Pellew, 43, methamphetamine offenses, $10,000 bond.
