Owner of Goldsboro Used Furniture Wiley Williamson is loaded into the back of an ambulance after suffering injuries due to an assault Thursday.
The owner of Goldsboro Used Furniture at 101 N. Center St. in downtown Goldsboro was robbed and assaulted Thursday morning inside his business.
An unknown suspect entered the business that is located across the street from City Hall just before 11:30 a.m. and struck 65-year-old Wiley Williamson in the head with an unknown weapon, then robbed him.
"An unknown amount of cash was taken off the victim's person," said Maj. Anthony Carmon with the Goldsboro Police Department.
No items were taken from the store.
Williamson suffered a gash to the side of his head and was bloodied by the incident, but did not sustain life threatening injuries.
"I don't have a medical update, but he is alert and talking with no apparent life threatening injuries," Carmon said.
Carmon said there is currently no available description of the suspect that struck Williamson in the head and fled.
At the scene of the crime Thursday morning, Carmon said he believed the police department would catch the offender "within the next day or two."
