David Weil talks about the "Lost Colony" at the Wayne County Museum on Monday evening.

The "Lost Colony" may not be so lost after all.

That was the message when David Weil spoke at the Wayne County Museum Monday evening.

The 40-minute presentation focused on recent findings which may point to where some of the colonists ended up.

Weil talked about the discovery of the Dare Stone, a carved rock bearing what archaeologists have said is a message from members of the lost colony, near Cape Hatteras. According to the message, a group of colonists in the area were slaughtered by a local native American tribe, with the survivors burying their dead at a nearby hill.

A nearby archaeological dig, known as "Site X," also turned up Elizabethan artifacts in a location not known for them, suggesting that members of the lost colony may have moved there.
