Schools ready for graduation

The first round of graduation ceremonies, for private schools and two public schools, kicks off this week.
Faith Christian Academy will graduate 19 students on Friday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. The pastor, the Rev. Christian Powell, will deliver the challenge to the graduates.
A baccalaureate service was already held Sunday, with the Rev. Kenneth Matthews, grandfather of graduate Tamir Matthews, speaking.
Valedictorian is Olivia Pierce, who plans to attend Johnston Community College in the fall. She said she is undecided about her course of study.
Madeline Clark is salutatorian. She plans to attend Campbell University and study pre-law and political science.
Wayne County Public Schools will have two schools represented in the commencement pool next week. Wayne School of Engineering and Wayne Early/Middle College feature student speakers but do not declare a valedictorian or salutatorian.
The ceremony for Wayne School of Engineering will be held Wednesday, May 25, at 6 p.m. in the Goldsboro High School auditorium.
Students featured on the program include Cymberlin Sasser, performing the national anthem, and senior speakers Leah Weaver, Emmanuel Adeloye, Thomas Vick, Matt Felipe, Carman Greenway, Jesus Quiroz and Nicolas Reid.
Wayne Early Middle will hold ceremonies at The Bridge Church in Princeton on Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m. The school has 55 graduates, in a variety of categories -- receiving high school diplomas and associate in arts or associate in science degrees from Wayne Community College.
Wayne Country Day School will have a morning ceremony, on Thursday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at the Paramount Theatre. Thirty students are in the graduating class.
The faculty address will be delivered by Joseph Cook from the school's history department.
Valedictorian is Katherine Thompson, who plans to attend Salem College.
There was a five-way tie for salutatorian.
William Bartlett and Charles Roethling will attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Ryan Etheridge will be going to N.C. State University and studying engineering. Stephanie Schappell will also be going to NCSU, studying electrical engineering.
Nolan Davis intends to go to East Carolina University and study clinical laboratory science and pre-med.
Wayne Christian School will graduate 32 students on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at the school.
Aamir Castelino, valedictorian, will attend N.C. State University to study biology.Co-salutatorians are Thomas Donica and Micah O'Hara.
Donica, also named a National Merit Scholar, will be attending Liberty University to study mechanical engineering with a dual major in chemistry. O'Hara will be attending Regent University, studying pre-law or interdisciplinary studies to teach English.
