Wayne County Public Schools recognizes 56 student artists

Wayne County Public Schools recently recognized 56 student artists during its annual visual arts reception.
Student received trophies and certificates, with special recognition given in several categories.
The Superintendent's Choice art winners are display for a year along the hallways in the district's administrative offices on Royall Avenue. Winners in that category include:
Grades K-2: Yaritza Delgado, Eastern Wayne Elementary, first place; Elizabeth Gurley, Northwest Elementary, second place; and Justice Johnson, Grantham Elementary, third place.
Grades 3-5: Reece Outlaw, Carver Elementary, first place; Abigail Zapita, Carver Heights Elementary, second place; and Yamamah Alkhanshali, Northeast Elementary, third place.
Grades 6-8: Matti Toms, Grantham Middle, first place; Rosie Heimbach, Eastern Wayne Middle, second place; and Gage Outlaw, Mount Olive Middle, third place.
Grades 9-12: Neyci Colindres, Spring Creek High, first place; Ashalee Thornton, Rosewood High, second place; and Justin West, Southern Wayne High, third place.
Special recognition: Kolin Piscitelli, Edgewood, and Kayla Bolin, Fremont STARS.
Honorable mention: Brayan Carrasco-Garcia, Brogden Primary; Michelle Williams, Norwayne Middle; Alexandra Murgas, Charles B. Aycock High; Diana Lopez, Rosewood Elementary; Asia Pearsall, Dillard Middle; Abigail Villa, Rosewood Middle; Emily Flynn, Eastern Wayne High; Nevaeh Moses, School Street Elementary; Faith Johnson, Goldsboro High; Rodrigo Dominguez, Spring Creek Elementary; JoJo Li, Greenwood Middle; Aubrey Wooley, Spring Creek Middle; Bryanna Brown, Meadow Lane Elementary; Kitty Wang, Tommy's Road Elementary; Ashanti Earnest, North Drive Elementary; and Nadia Coles, Wayne School of Engineering.
Other art awards included the following:
*Superintendent's holiday card: Brooklyn Pollock of Spring Creek Elementary, first place; and runners-up, Catherine Young of Eastern Wayne Elementary, Madison Mozingo of Tommy's Road Elementary, Jocelyn Bond of Carver Elementary, Liliana Garza of Brogden Primary, Skylar Ratliff of Northeast Elementary and Sakura Tropel of Meadow Lane.
*Scholastic Art Awards: Victoria Ambriz of Mount Olive, silver key award; Hannah Adams of Rosewood Middle, silver key award; Emily Richter of Rosewood High, silver key; and Ashalee Thornton of Rosewood High, honorable mention.
*Goldsboro Junior Women's Club State Level Award: Caroline Best of Grantham Middle, second place; and Abigail Villa of Rosewood Middle, second place.
*Goldsboro Junior Women's Club District Level Award: Savannah Shoemake of Eastern Wayne High, first place; Emily Ritcher of Rosewood High, second place; Harley West of Rosewood High, first place; and Brennon Cox of Grantham Middle, second place.
