Wayne County's 23rd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive collected 14,000 pounds of food Saturday. The goal was 25,000 pounds. Clifford Barker, the local coordinator, said the decrease was due to not receiving bags for people to put the food in this year. "Most of the carriers are pretty happy about what they got," he said. The food will be distributed to United Church Ministries, Community Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, HGDC Community Crisis Center, Wayne Uplift Domestic Violence Shelter and Society St. Vincent de Paul. The drive will continue all this week.
