An unconfirmed tornado may have touched down near Seven Springs this afternoon, tearing a roof off of a home at 295 Sanderson Road. A woman and four small children were in the home at the time, and a neighbor helped them evacuate immediately after the storm passed. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is en route to help the family. The National Weather Service has yet to confirm if the damage was caused by a tornado or straight line winds. "There are widespread power outages all over the TriCounty service area," said Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department Chief Phil Shivar. A main transmission line is down at Rones Chapel, and there are several tree limbs down along N.C. 111 South, some in the power lines, said Shivar. Duke Progress is in the area.
