Traffic stop results in arrest

A traffic stop conducted by the Goldsboro Police Department Friday led to one man's arrest and a drug seizure when a K-9 unit discovered 30 grams of crack cocaine in the suspect's car.
Rinardo Quatrell Howell, 33, 700 S. Taylor St., is charged with trafficking cocaine by possession, trafficking cocaine by transportation and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
A Wayne County magistrate set Howell's bond at $100,000 secured and placed him in jail pending a first appearance in district court today.
According to a Goldsboro police report, the arrest followed a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Slocumb Street, near the intersection of South Slocumb and Elm streets.
"The traffic stop was for a stop sign violation," Maj. Anthony Camron said. Carmon said the street value for that amount of crack ranges between $1,000 and $1,200.
Howell, driving a black four-door 2007 Cadillac DTS, was stopped at approximately 11 p.m. A K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a "narcotic sniff," the report said. K-9 officer Iko discovered drugs hidden in the vehicle.
Howell is already facing a charge of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine for which he is due in court April 12, as well as several traffic violations for which he is also do to appear.
