Marshal Vance Johnson Jr.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation Task Force members combined efforts to bring down a local man who allegedly made terrorist threats against Washington, D.C. earlier this month.
Authorities have not released the details of the threat or threats the suspect might have made.
"He said he was going up there to raise some hell," Maj. Tom Effler said.
Marshal Vance Johnson Jr., 56, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a single count of possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, according to a sheriff's office press release.
According to the release, the FBI task force received information in early October that Vance had made some sort of threat against a person or a place in the nation's capital.
"It was toward doing violent actions in the D.C. area," Effler said.
Members of the sheriff's office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and the FBI task force assembled and arrested Johnson at his home Friday without incident.
Vance is being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond. He is due to appear in Wayne County District Court Oct. 28.
