A Dudley woman faces criminal charges after being tied to a residential break-in and to a series of forged checks, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office press release.
Linda Gail Turnage, 34, 167 Ogallalah Lane, is charged with two counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses, possession of stolen goods, forgery of an instrument and uttering a forged instrument. Ms. Turnage was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
According to the report, property stolen during an April 13 residential break-in turned up at a local pawn shop and the owner of the shop identified Ms. Turnage as the person who pawned the items.
Additionally, on April 16, a report of checks stolen from an elderly woman in the Goldsboro area was filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Those checks were later found to have been forged by Ms. Turnage, the report said.
Ms. Turnage is scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court later today on unrelated charges, then is due back in district court May 11 to answer these new charges.
