Two suspects are in custody and more arrests are expected in connection with the bank robbery on Wayne Memorial Drive Wednesday.
Two gunmen entered the KS Bank at 1601 Wayne Memorial Drive at 10:13 a.m., fired a shot into the ceiling and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money.
On Thursday, the Clayton Police Department turned over two men to the Goldsboro Police Department who now face a litany of charges.
Marquize Marcel Harris, 25, of 718 E. Walnut St., and Phillip Alexander Williams, 30, of 1502 Maple St. are charged with a single count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm in an enclosure to incite fear and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Both men also face seven counts each of second-degree kidnapping.
In addition to the charges related to the bank robbery, both Harris and Williams had several outstanding warrants. Harris was served with warrants for possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of marijuana. His bond has been set at $10,257,999 secured.
Williams was served with warrants for possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon, vicious animals, allowing dogs to run at large and possession of marijuana. His bond has been set at $10,212,199 secured.
According to a press release issued Thursday, the Clayton Police Department responded to reports of suspicious activity at an area hotel.
A Clayton vice officer had four suspects detained -- two men and two women -- after guests at the local Comfort Suites hotel complained to the front desk about activity on the second floor.
The CPD called in the Goldsboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, which brought with it search warrants, leading to the discovery of evidence both in the hotel room and in the suspect's vehicle linking them to the KS Bank robbery.
Harris and Williams were identified and charged. Further arrests are pending.
