The KS Bank on Wayne Memorial Drive is seen early today. The bank was robbed Wednesday by two armed men.

Two gunmen walked into the KS Bank at 1601 Wayne Memorial Drive on Wednesday, fired a single shot into the ceiling and proceeded to rob the bank.

According to a Goldsboro police report, the robbery took place at 10:13 a.m. No injuries were reported and the amount taken by the suspects remains undetermined.

Bank employees told police that two black men wearing masks entered the bank, fired a round, demanded money and left on foot.

No further description of the men has been reported.

Similar incidents at banks in and around Wayne County have unfolded at a regular pace since November 2014, when the BB&T bank in LaGrange was robbed.

In December, the Wells Fargo at 605 N. Berkeley Blvd. was robbed by a single gunman who walked in, fired a shot and robbed the tellers.

On Feb. 12, the BB&T in Princeton was robbed in the same fashion. The only difference between the previous incidents and Wednesday's robbery was that there were two suspects rather than one.

While police are hesitant to confirm the bank robberies are related without direct evidence to link them, investigators admit there are similarities among the incidents.

Princeton Police Chief Tyronne Sutton, speaking after the Princeton bank robbery, said the M.O. (modus operandi) appeared to be the same.

In addition to banks, several local businesses have been robbed in recent months -- cases which remain unsolved -- leading to concerns about public safety.

The Papa John's pizza store on Royall Avenue was robbed during business hours Jan. 12, as were the Longhorn's Business Center on Jan. 24 and Sid's Showgirls on Feb. 12. The Applebee's on North Spence Avenue was robbed just after closing in November 2014.

Several emails and telephone calls to the Goldsboro Police Department seeking updates on the listed cases and comment on Wednesday's robbery went unreturned by press time.

A press release issued Wednesday included a request for the community's help in solving the robbery at KS Bank.
