Firefighters with Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department help to clear the scene of a collision early Saturday evening in the east bound lane of Highway 70. No serious injuries were appointed.
Traffic on Highway 70 East near Rosewood was halted by a wreck Saturday night when Leslie Anne Lewis, of 423A Riverbend Road, pulled out into traffic, causing a Toyota Symphony van to crash into her Ford Mustang.
The van's occupants, Phu Van Nguyen, 67, and Bat Thi Trinh, 65, of 3621 Huntleigh Drive, Raleigh, were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital to ensure Nguyen's pacemaker was still functioning properly.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lewis was trapped in her Mustang after the wreck.
The Rosewood Volunteer Fire Department, Goldsboro Police Department, Goldsboro Fire Department and the State Highway Patrol responded to the accident and cut Ms. Lewis out of the vehicle.
GPD officer Jay Holland said speed was not a factor in the incident, but that Ms. Lewis would be charged with failure to see before starting.
As of press-time, the wreckage had been cleared and traffic was flowing normally.
