A Smithfield man is being held in the Wayne County Jail today on rape charges.
Dantoine Harris, 35, 18 A N. Sussex Drive, is charged with one count each of second-degree forcible rape and attempted second-degree rape, as well as three counts of second-degree forcible sex offense.
Patrol officers with the Goldsboro Police Department were called to a disturbance in the 900 block of Lincoln Drive Thursday, where they encountered Harris.
Investigators were then called to the scene.
Evidence gathered resulted in the charges against Harris, according to a Goldsboro police press release, which was issued Thursday.
Harris is a known associate of the victim in this case and the charges stem from two separate incidents, according to police.
Harris was taken into custody and placed in the Wayne County Jail and held without bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court Monday.
