County man, 26, charged with sex offense

A Seven Springs man is in the Wayne County Jail today for allegedly impregnating a 14-year-old relative, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Florencio Lopez Gomez, 26, 2123 Pineview Cemetery Road, is charged with the statutory rape and sex offense of a defendant less than six years his age.
According to the press release, the victim reported having been seen at Goldsboro Pediatrics in Mount Olive where doctors told her she is pregnant.
The alleged incident took place more than a month ago.
The investigation led detectives to Gomez, whom the report calls a relative of the victim.
Deputies formally charged Gomez Wednesday and placed him in the Wayne County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
