Two face weapons charges after stop

Two men are in jail on weapons charges and additional charges are pending after a brief foot chase with police late Thursday.
The Goldsboro Police Department says the arrests are tied to an ongoing investigation "into the recent rash of shootings that have plagued Goldsboro," and that more arrests are expected.
Daktari Xavier Harris, 22, streets of Goldsboro, and Martiz Equan Bradshaw, 20, 905 S. Best St., are currently being held under $760,000 and $510,000 secured bonds, respectively.
Harris is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, and one count of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.
Bradshaw faces a single count each of the same three charges.
According to a GPD press release, officers from the Housing Unit, Drug Squad and Patrol B-shift stopped a car in the 1100 block of Fourth Street at 11:14 p.m.
"They were working off of a tip," Maj. Al King said.
King said the tip alluded to the fact there might be guns in the car.
The driver, Tazaunear Williams, 28, 104 Greenwood St., tried to flee but could not, and was charged with a misdemeanor count of speeding to elude arrest.
Harris and Bradshaw allegedly ran on foot but were captured.
One long gun and one hand gun were recovered.
King declined to explain how two men could be charged with three collective counts of possession of only two weapons.
He did, however, contradict reports on social media regarding a shoot-out with GPD.
No shots were fired and no weapons were ever pointed at police, he said.
Court records indicate Bradshaw was recently released from jail following an active sentence of 13 to 25 months in jail for a common law robbery conviction.
Bradshaw was given credit for time served, 411 days, and released July 4.
Harris has been out of jail since March 26 after he was sentenced to 8 to 10 months in jail for larceny from a person. By the time he was sentenced, Harris had served 306 days in jail. He was given credit for time served and released.
Goldsboro police maintain the arrests are connected to the recent shootings and that more charges against the pair could be announced as early as this afternoon.
"We still have to have some meetings on that and some interviews to do," King said.
King ruled out gang activity and drugs as having anything to do with the investigation.
He did not indicate what motive might then have led to any of the shootings being investigated.
