GPD Crime Scene Investigator Cpl. Steven Powers measures the distance between shell casings at the scene of a double shooting that took place just before noon Wednesday on West Oak Street. No suspects have been identified, according to police reports.
Two shootings separated by four hours unfolded within the city limits Wednesday.
The first, which took place in the 400 block of West Oak Street, left two men injured.
The second, a "drive-by," did not result in any injuries, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The initial shots fired call came in just before noon.
When police arrived along West Oak Street, they found two men -- Montana Antwain Best, 32, of Eastern Place, and Travion Lamonte Lewis, 20, of Jake Drive -- on the ground. Both men suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Best was then transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville where he was listed in good condition today.
But both Wayne Memorial Hospital and Vidant Medical Center denied having any record of Lewis.
A crime scene was set up and investigators collected and bagged evidence.
No suspects have been identified, according to the report.
Less than four hours later, the GPD responded to a second shooting incident -- a "drive-by" in the 1600 block of East Maple Street.
Solomon Herring, 25, and Mackenzie Lofton, 31, told responders they were standing in the front yard of a residence when a white Cadillac drove by -- slowly.
The passenger of the vehicle, identified by witnesses as "Key Ross," began firing at the men, according to the report.
The driver is identified on the report as "Lil John."
Herring told police he returned fire to protect himself and the people inside his residence. He said he hit the Cadillac twice.
A neighboring residence was also struck by bullets, but no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Herring and Lofton both signed non-prosecution forms, according to the report.
According to arrest reports obtained from the Goldsboro Police Department this morning, Shawntanna L. Thompson, 26, of the streets of Goldsboro, and Johnathan Junior Oneal, 24, 813 Heather Ann Lane, were arrested at 410 Creech St. minutes after the shooting.
Thompson's alias is listed on his arrest report as "Kee Ross," which he has tattooed on his right arm.
Oneal gave his alias as "Little John," according to his arrest report.
Both men are charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. No mention of weapons were made on either arrest sheet.
Thompson's bond was set at $3,000 secured.
Oneal's bond was set at $1,000 secured.
Commander of Investigations for the Goldsboro Police Department Maj. Al King said no weapons were found on either man, but they are considered suspects in the shooting.
Beyond that, the investigation has stalled, he said.
"Without the cooperation of the victims, I can't even speculate," King said.
