A Mount Olive man charged with the first-degree statutory rape of a 12-year-old is scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court this morning.
Investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office charged Christopher Omega Jurmaine Davis, 22, with the sexual assault Wednesday, and placed him in the Wayne County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
Davis, of 696 Shepard Lane, allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old relative in a parking lot area in the county on May 25.
The victim's mother contacted law enforcement Monday.
