To those Wayne County residents accustomed to seeing F-15Es coming in for landing, the sight of a group of Strike Eagles making its way toward Seymour Johnson Air Force Base this morning might have seemed routine.
They had no way of knowing that the airmen commanding those aircraft were, in fact, wrapping up a several-month stint at an undisclosed location overseas.
The Strike Eagles' homecoming marked the culmination of a several-day redeployment that has seen hundreds of local airmen return from a tour the Air Force won't say much about.
The location and duration of their deployment -- and mission they were there to complete -- are being withheld, as is the squadron the men and women are attached to.
